I work with people in person, by telephone, or teleconference. My fees are based entirely on time. I do not sell any products, or make any money as a result of any of my recommendations.
I work in cooperation with your physician(s), evaluating test results and supporting you in making informed decisions about your medical care. Many people find this helpful and supportive in situations involving serious illness, hospitalization, and impending surgery.
I support this decision-making with extensive research on evidence-based allopathic and alternative therapies, combined with my 35 years of clinical experience. It has been my consistent experience that a fully informed patient almost always makes the best possible decision regarding their care.
I also support families in understanding the medical, emotional, and psychological aspects of illnesses, and how to best support the healing process for all concerned. I have served in an “advocate” capacity for patients and their families in hospitals or other care settings, communicating with physicians and staff in support of everyone involved.
I can also provide information and suggestions for alternative therapies to physicians and patients absent of any potential financial conflict of interest.
Health & Nutrition Coaching
My training and experience provides a unique vantage point. I have the skills and training to distinguish between primarily emotionally-based illnesses that would best respond to psychotherapy, and those illnesses that could also respond to alternative therapies and nutritional approaches. I also have a thorough knowledge of evidence-based alternative therapies and their validity and applicability.
I provide education on the emotional basis (genesis) of those illnesses that would best be addressed through working with underlying emotional material and limiting beliefs.
Nutrition also plays an important role in our health. The emerging field of Lifestyle Medicine emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition as foundational to good health. As a medical doctor and psychologist who is trained/informed/experienced in the field of nutritional health and possible impacts of environmental toxins, I can provide a well rounded approach that extends beyond the latest diet fad and focuses on relevant dietary information to address core and underlying issues in support of healing and optimal well being.
Many of the same principles and practices that apply in creating optimal health through mind-body-spirit medicine, also apply in creating healthy relationships. I work with my wife Bonnie Paul, Ph.D., assisting singles and couples in achieving supportive, healthy, conscious, and loving relationships.
I am available for speaking engagements. Some of my favorite topics are:
- Mind-Body Medicine – what is the evidence?
- How does the mind create illness or promote healing?
- Simple things you can do in a few minutes each day to improve your health.
- The role of caring and loving in healing.
- How to effectively deal with stress and burnout.
